A Pre-Wedding Shoot at Tittesworth Reservoir

Oh, how I am loving these beautiful late summer’s evenings. It gives me even more time to be out exploring the Staffordshire and Cheshire countryside with my couples. Last week saw me head over to the Peak District and the gorgeous Tittesworth Resevoir with Chelsea and Ben. Upon arriving we were all apprehensive about the weather. We really wanted to be shooting with a sunset and all we had was cloud! Being the troopers we were we all got on with making the most of the fantastic view of The Roaches and crossing our fingers. I feel so lucky to have the Peak District so close to home. The dramatic mountains, lakes and trails make it the perfect place for couples photoshoots.

My pre-wedding shoots are the perfect opportunity to get comfortable infront of the camera. I also give you lots of tips on posing/posture and what to do with your hands. Who knew hands could be so awkward until someone points a camera at us? Most of the population then turn into crazy people who have no idea what to do with them! That includes me! Finally, you get a selection of lovely images of you both. These can be perfect for guests books, invites and signing frames for your wedding day too. What’s not to love about a pre-wedding shoot?

After some time of kissing, canoodling, dancing and running through the buttercups it happened. The sun came out! Albeit only a little bit, peaking through some thinner cloud, but it was there. Warming our skin and providing a glimmer of hope for a sunset…

Then bam! Happy Helen!

As the sun was setting fast around us, it was time to make our way to the reservoir. The minutes after sunset can often be better than sunset itself. The colours during twilight can be vivid with pinks, purples, blues and orange. As a photographer who loves colour, you can see why this is my favourite time of day to be out shooting. The thing was, to get the shots I wanted needed me to do one thing. Get in the water. Me. One of the clumsiest people you will ever meet getting in a reservoir with around £8,000 worth of equipment. And no assistant. It’s always been said I’ll do whatever I need to in order to get the shot!

Did me and my equipment survive being knee deep in water? Yes! I’m pretty sure it was worth the risk too 🙂

Chelsea and Ben are getting married later this year at the beautiful Sandhole Oak Barn in Congleton. You can check out a previous wedding from their venue by clicking HERE!
